TODAY GIRL'S MISSION

The spice girls sit around a computer, coding.

We at Today Girl believe in the power of make-believe.

We were raised to anticipate/accept/appreciate our destiny as sacrifices on the infinite pyre for Jerkoff Capitalism. But in time we realized that fate isn’t ultimate, that destiny is something a Girl creates while crying on her bathroom floor, so we clawed out our own ‘Other’ option. Thus, Today Girl.

Today Girl has existed in some iteration for decades. This current evolution, a digital magazine compiled by and for any web surfer eager to engage, originated out of a childhood love of magazines like Sassy and Dirt. Though these are long extinct, with Today we hope to continue their legacy of evocative and unapologetic journalism through our immature hodge-podge of poetry, art, politics, etcetera etcetera.

The ultimate joy of Today Girl is that it is in constant fluxation. So if you pull up this website a month from now, six months from now, don't expect to recognize it. We will nurture and feed her until she's big enough to go on her own.

We raise our right hands and swear forever allegiance to Girlhood, to Femdominion, to the bloody, gut-spilling glory that comes with the female identification. Practice self-determination through proclaiming your place on the femme spectrum, because power to the people means no barriers (especially rotting ones like sex, gender, student loans).

Today Girl is for anybody who finds it and it’s for those who don't. It’s for the people who see the pink, the glitter, the Leftist ideologies and think it's stupid. Because we get it, but we love Today anyway.

And if you do too, the other side of this pillow belongs to you. Let's scream into it together.
